A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. The fob would have been used to seal the wax of a letter or note.

This beautiful and ornate fob from the Georgian (ca1850) era is very unusual! Made of sterling silver, this decorative piece is open in the center and has a wonderful swirled frame encrusted with sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds. Resting at the base of the fob is a stunning peridot stone held within a bezel rimmed with 12kt yellow. The oval-shaped peridot has a lively, vivid green color and is beautifully faceted along the sides and back. In the center of the seal is a carved intaglio design representing an intricate family crest. At the top of the piece is a sterling loop, which is encrusted with diamonds along its outer surface. This exquisite fob is as stunning as it is rare, and would look perfect worn on a long silver chain. Perfect for any fob collector, it would make an outstanding addition to any collection!

Measurements: The fob hangs approximately 1" long. The base that holds the peridot stone measures approximately 3/4" by 5/8".

Condition: The overall condition of the fob is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or to the diamonds, all of which are intact. The peridot stone shows some minimal signs of natural surface wear, which is normal for a piece from the Georgian era and does not detract from its beauty.
