Georgian Sterling & Rose Cut Diamond Pin & Necklace Set
A truly exceptional French pin and necklace set from the Georgian (ca1780) era! Made of silver and old Rose Cut diamonds, this well-preserved piece is absolutely gorgeous. Much of Georgian jewelry is inspired by the beauty of nature, and this exquisite necklace and pin are no exception. The piece resembles flowing vines and delicate leaves with flowers in bloom. The entire piece is encrusted with old Rose Cut diamonds, which vary in size. A very versatile piece, it can be worn in two equally lovely ways. When worn as a necklace, it fastens together at a push clasp in the back, and hooks onto either side of the large centerpiece in the middle. The centerpiece itself is outstanding, with twisted leaves and larger flowers in the middle, and elegant dangling elements below, all topped in sparkling diamonds. The back of the center link attaches to a gold bar pin, allowing it to be detached from the necklace and worn on its own as a pin. The clasp is stamped with the French eagle head hallmark. The piece comes in the original box, further adding to its historical appeal. A stunning and very special statement piece, it would make an impressive addition to any collection!
Measurements: When worn as a necklace, the piece measures 16.5" long. When detached from the necklace, the pin hangs 2 7/8" long, measures 2" wide, and is approximately 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver, or to the diamond stones. The bar pin fastens securely, and the push clasp is secure and in good working condition.
