Victorian 15kt Enamel & Rose Cut Diamond Starburst Locket
An outstanding enamel and diamond locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This incredible oval-shaped piece is made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin) and is particularly large in size. The front of the locket has a rich black enamel surface and features a stunning starburst center. Decorating the 8-point starburst are rows of graduated Rose Cut diamonds, and a single Old Mine cut diamond in the middle. A beautiful border surrounds the outside of the locket, comprised of wavy black enamel and Rose Cut diamond stripes. The piece hangs from a matching enamel and diamond bail large enough for a substantial gold chain. On the back of the locket is a large oval frame to store a special photograph behind glass. A magnificent piece, it merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and looks incredibly striking when worn. It would make an impressive addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, is 1 5/8" wide, and approximately 5/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or black enamel, and all of the diamonds are intact.
