Victorian 14kt Enameled Hand & Cross Locket
A wonderful locket from the Victorian (ca1890) era! This lovely piece is oval in shape and made of 14kt yellow gold and has a detailed enamel design on the front. The religious-inspired picture, which is hand painted with intricate detail, depicts a hand holding up a book, most likely a bible. A black cross hanging from a strand of rosary beads hangs in between, completing the illustration. Surrounding the enamel image is an elaborately engraved design, adding incredible detail to the already beautiful locket. The back of the locket displays a gorgeous engine-turned design with a smooth oval center. The piece hangs from a gold bail and opens to reveal a glass covered space for your two favorite photographs. It's a beautiful Victorian piece that would look perfect worn hanging from a gold chain and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 5/8" long, is 1" wide, and is 3/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There are no visible chips or scratches to the enamel, and the locket opens easily and closes securely. There is some minor surface wear to the gold including a few small dings along one side, which is not unusual for a Victorian piece, and is not visible when worn.
