Art Deco 14kt Faceted Amethyst Necklace
A fantastic and very beautiful amethyst necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This gorgeous piece is comprised of a single large teardrop amethyst that hangs from a 14kt yellow gold chain. The amethyst teardrop is faceted on both sides and catches the light beautifully. The luscious stone hangs from a decorative gold bail that resembles delicate leaves clasping the tip of the teardrop. Adding to the beauty of the gold chain are 11 faceted amethyst beads, which complete the design perfectly. All of the amethyst stones display a gorgeous purple hue that looks fantastic against the yellow gold setting. The chain fastens together in the back with a simple clasp marked "14KT." This lovely piece looks wonderful when worn and would make a stunning addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain of the necklace measures 16" long. The large carved amethyst pendant hangs approximately 2" long (including the bail and bead above it), is 7/8" wide and 1/2" thick. The smaller faceted beads measure 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, and all of the faceted amethyst stones are intact and free of chips or scratches. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
