An artistic Hungarian necklace from the Arts & Crafts period (ca1910)! This fabulous piece is made of gilded sterling and comprised of an elaborate Persian turquoise and pearl pendant that hangs from a delicate sterling and turquoise link chain. The pendant has a gorgeous raised spiral design that begins with a round bezel set turquoise stone in the center. Circling the center turquoise stone are rows of delicate natural seed pearls alternating with rows turquoise stones. Dangling below the round centerpiece is a smaller teardrop shaped link with a complimentary turquoise and pearl design. The back of the piece displays an elaborate wirework design that is representative of a traditional Hungarian style from the Arts & Crafts era. Delicate sterling flower links, each topped with a bezel set turquoise stone, connect to form the beautiful chain that holds the pendant. At the back of the piece, the necklace fastens together with a simple yellow gold spring ring clasp. This extraordinary necklace displays exquisite craftsmanship and is absolutely beautiful. Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18 1/4" long from end to end. The center pendant hangs 2 7/8" long and is 1 1/4" at the widest point and approximately 1/2" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling gilt setting. All of the turquoise stones and seed pearls are intact and the clasp is intact and in good working condition.
