Art Deco Sterling & Real Butterfly Double-Sided Pendant

SKU: 15492
A beautiful and unusual butterfly pendant from the late Art Deco (ca1930) era! This piece, which is round in shape, is set in sterling silver and displayed in the center, sandwiched between two pieces of glass, is a textured, fibrous cream colored background. Resting atop the background on each side of the pendant is a real butterfly, carefully preserved and incorporated into the feminine design. Both delicate butterflies have stunning colors on their wings in pale shades of of pink, white, peach, and lilac, while their bodies are a vivid shade of deep indigo blue. One butterfly is shown from the side, as though perched on a plant, while the other is shown with wings outstretched on either side. Small, delicate strands of real dried petals and wheat complete the gorgeous nature-inspired design. The pendant could be reversed to display either side as the front of the piece. At the top of the pendant is a simple sterling bail, making it easy to hang and wear from a chain and the encasement is stamped "STERLING". This one-of a-kind piece is incredibly lovely and would make a unique gift for someone!

Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/2" long, has a diameter of 1 1/4" and is 3/16" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or or to the glass. The butterflies and dried pressed plants are still in good condition, however they may have been moved slightly in a few places because of the age.
