Belief in the evil eye dates back to Classical antiquity and beliefs have always varied across different regions and periods. Today, many cultures and individuals wear, own or carry talismans to ward off the curse of the evil eye. The symbol was sometimes incorporated into jewelry, allowing the wearer to always be protected.
A charming charm/pendant from the Vintage (ca1960's) era! This lovely piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and carries the shape of a flat disc with a cutout center. The piece has a textured, lined surface which fans out and carries along with exterior of the almond shaped center. Set within the cutout is a small glass eyeball, completing the mysterious evil eye design. The charm/pendant hangs from a simple gold bail, making it easy to wear as a pendant or as an addition to a charm bracelet. A fun and collectable piece, it would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The charm/pendant hangs 3/4" long, and has a diameter of a little more than 1/2". The charm has a depth of 1/8" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the charm/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold charm. There is some wear to the glass eyeball however this is hardly noticeable when the piece is worn.
