A truly exceptional gold pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of vibrant 15kt yellow gold, the pendant is large in size and has an elaborate design. The center is round and decorated with a raised cluster of leaves and grapes. An owl sits perched at the top, with textured detail representing its feathers and wings outstretched at either side. Underneath the circle center is an inverted arch, which ends in an impeccably detailed three-dimensional ram's head at each side, complete with curling horns, delicate facial features, and textured fur at the neck. Dangling from the arch are two gold urns at the ends and a scarab in the middle, held within a decorative frame. The back of the piece reveals a round glass window, which is now sealed shut. At the very top of the pendant is a large gold fluted bail to hang from a chain. A beautifully crafted piece, this gorgeous pendant is one-of-a-kind and would make a stunning and unique addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 3 1/2" long, is 2" at its widest point and has a depth of 3/8" at its thickest point. The glass window on the back has a 3/4" diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, and the bail is secure and in good working condition.
