A fabulous sterling silver coin purse chatelaine pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The coin purse begins with a lovely repousse frame that displays a feminine floral motif on both sides. Hanging from the frame is a handcrafted, sterling mesh bag. The craftsmanship is absolutely amazing, and 8 sterling balls dangle from the bottom of the piece. The purse opens from the top with a kiss clasp and reveals 2 stamps on either side: “STERLING” and “W&D”. The entire coin purse hangs from 2 sterling link chains that come together at a ring, which would have originally been worn, attached to a chatelaine. It's a fabulous and special piece from the Victorian period and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The coin purse hangs 6 1/4" at its longest point, measures 2 1/4" at the widest point, and 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the coin purse is excellent. Besides normal surface wear there is no apparent damage to the sterling, and the kiss clasp is secure and in good working condition.
