An incredible Hungarian pin/pendant from the Arts & Crafts (ca1900) period! This outstanding and incredibly ornate piece is made of gilded silver and comprised of an elaborate turquoise and pearl design. The piece, which is very large in size, holds a large bezel set turquoise cabochon in the center. Encircling it is a pearl border, which is surrounded by a beautiful border made of bezel set Persian turquoise stones. A swirled filigree design with a lovely floral motif covers the entire front surface, and is detailed with rows of additional Persian turquoise stones and delicate seed pearls, and 6 additional turquoise cabochons. A separate turquoise and floral link hangs below the piece, adding a beautiful accent.
The back of the piece displays an ornate gilded wirework design that is representative of a traditional Hungarian style from the Arts & Crafts era. A single bar pin fastens securely in the back, and a loop at the top allows it to be worn as a pendant. This extraordinary piece displays exquisite craftsmanship and is absolutely exquisite. It would make an exceptional addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The piece hangs approximately 4" long, is 2 1/2" across at the widest point, and approximately 1" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver gilt setting. All of the turquoise stones and seed pearls are intact and the pin clasp is intact and in good working condition.
