Ralph DeRosa was an Italian born designer that manufactured jewelry in the 1930's and 1940's. The DeRosa company was founded in 1934 and was well known for its large, high quality pieces which were finished like a fine piece of jewelry. He typically used colorful crystals and his designs tended to have a very Retro look.
This two piece set is a beautiful example of the DeRosa craftsmanship. Both exquisite and important looking, the set which is probably from the late 1930's, is comprised of an extravagant bracelet and a large fur clip. Each piece is hand wrought and encrusted with colorful hand-set crystals with varying shades of pinks and blues. In between the crystals is intricate and ornamental wirework of twisted wire and flowers. The set is not marked so it is most likely that the metal used is base metal but possibly could be silver. The bracelet has 9 separate links; 4 graduating squares lie on each side of the large oval-shaped center link. Set in the center of the middle link is a large faceted square blue crystal with 4 faceted round pink crystals that sit at each corner. On the back of the bracelet clasp is the signature marking "R. DEROSA". The fur clip is a fan shape and has a design that compliments the bracelet. On the back of the piece is a large clip that has 5 'teeth' which are perfect for clipping onto a fur collar or jacket. On the back of the fur clip is also the marking "R. DEROSA".
Measurements: The bracelet is approximately 7" in length, 2" at the widest point and 3/4" at the thickest point. The large center link measures 1 1/2" wide and 2" long. The fur clip ranges in width from 3" to 1 1/4" wide. It is approximately 1 3/4" tall and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the set is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the metal or to the crystals on either piece. The clasp of the bracelet is secure and in good working condition. The fur clip has a secure clip on the back which is also in good working condition.
