Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as kids' toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bold, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many.

A fabulous Bakelite cuff from the 1940's! This funky bracelet is comprised of 5 different colors in a striped horizontal pattern. It features the most popular and fun Bakelite colors of emerald green, red, yellow, hunter green and brown. The body of the bracelet along the top and bottom is thick and becomes thin as it curves towards the wrist. The ends are rounded. This bracelet would fit best on an average size wrist, however it would also fit a small wrist and move like a bangle. A fabulous example of Bakelite, this cuff would look great worn by itself or with other Bakelite bracelets!

Measurements: The bracelet measures approximately 2 1/2" long, and 1 1/4" wide. The opening where your wrist would rest measures 1 3/16".

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There are some minor surface scratches which is not unusual for a bracelet from this period.
