This fabulous snake brooch is a simply stunning piece from the 1930's. Very large in size, the snake's open curled gold body is finely detailed in a heavy engraved textured pattern that emulates the skin of a snake. The snakes head is bright emerald green enamel with an intricate detailed design behind the enameling. A sparkling .25ptw mine cut diamond, set in silver, graces the center, top of his head. His eyes are brilliant rubies, approximately .03pt each, which are bezel set in 14kt yellow gold. The snake is wearing a collar of 5 rose cut diamonds, with an approximate weight of 0.5ptw. The gold jaws grip and dangle a beautiful red enameled apple. The stem and leaves are silver and are adorned with 4 rose cut diamonds. These diamonds measure .02ptw. This huge brooch makes a bold statement and is a true work of art and beauty.
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 3 1/8" at the widest point, 2 3/4" at the tallest point and is approximately 3/4" thick. The snake head measures approximately 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. There are no dents in the snake's gold body and all of the stones are intact. The overall condition of the enameling is excellent however there are 2 very small and unnoticeable chips on the snakes head by the diamond collar. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
