Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non-conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as kids' toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bright, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many.

This fabulous Bakelite bracelet from the Retro (ca1940's) era is a fun and funky piece! The bold bracelet, which is made of black Bakelite, is particularly wide, has a "clamper" style design with the original hinge on one side. The bracelet features a decorative pattern of gold colored metallic accents on the front surface, including two ridged gold stripes with small gold dots in between. The opposing side has a smooth black surface with a polished finish and is slightly more narrow and thin than the front surface. The simple yet attractive black and gold colors would compliment any ensemble and give the piece a very wearable, everyday look. It's a fantastic and fun Retro bracelet and would make a perfect addition to any Bakelite collection!

Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" tall. The surface of the bracelet measures 1 1/8" wide and is approximately 5/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the Bakelite and the clamper hinge is secure and in good working condition.
