Retro Signed Mexican Sterling Jelly Opal Cluster Ring
This Mexican hand-wrought cluster ring from the Retro (ca1940's) era is fabulous! The piece, which is made of sterling silver, is comprised of a large jelly opal center surrounded by eight smaller jelly opals that come together to form a large cluster. All of the opals are cabochons and are bezel set in the sterling silver mounting. Surrounding the stones is a delicate sterling beadwork design that adds depth to the piece, while a swirled wirework design forms the base and band of the ring. Each of the translucent jelly opals displays an alluring range of colors with flashes of orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple that catch in the light. The underside of the ring is stamped with several markings, including "MEXICO," "EKLING," and "SEKMANN." This gorgeous and unusual piece has a wonderful look would make a beautiful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The cluster measures approximately 1 1/8" tall, 1" wide with a depth of 1/2". The ring has a finger size 5.75 but it could easily be re-sized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting and all of the opals are intact.
