Art Deco 14kt Carved Onyx, Pearl & Diamond Filigree Ring
An incredible carved onyx filigree ring from the late Art Deco (ca1930) era! Made of 14kt white gold, this striking piece features an onyx sugarloaf cabochon in the center. Held within elegant prongs shaped like leaves and flowers, the onyx is carved on the outside with a lovely, feminine floral motif that is both subtle and beautiful. Riveted into the center of the onyx is a single, sparkling diamond held within a hexagonal box setting. The sides of the mounting are simply superb, displaying an incredible filigree wirework design with delicate engraving and milgrained detail. Surrounding the base of the onyx is a row of delicate natural seed pearls on each of the 4 sides of the mounting. The seed pearls add a soft look to the piece and complete the design perfectly. Stamped on the shank is "14K" along with a small maker's mark. It's a remarkably artistic piece that displays exceptional craftsmanship, and is exemplary of its era. It would make a marvelous addition to any collection!
