Art Nouveau English 9kt Opal Snake Ring

SKU: 34242

The snake has been a powerful image since the Victorian era and continues to be popular even in modern jewelry. It has been an inspiration for jewelry design for ages, often used to symbolize eternity, everlasting love, life and protection.

This fabulous snake ring is from the Art Nouveau (ca1910) era and is simply marvelous. Coiling around ones finger, the snake's body is made of 9kt rose gold and represents the mounting as well as the band of the ring. The head of the snake is decorated with a single cabochon opal which is oval in shape and two rubies represent its eyes. It has stunning detail and textured, scale-like etching throughout. Of English origin, the shank has several hallmarks including a crown and "375". This fabulous ring is very unusual and looks amazing on! It would make a perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 7.25 but could easily been resized if desired. When worn, the snake head and body measures 1" tall and 3/4" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the opal and the ruby stones are intact.
