Georgian 18kt Diamond & Carnelian Signet Ring

SKU: 0439

A signet ring can be represented by a smooth or engraved seal, or with an intaglio, which is created by carving into the surface of a stone. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.

This signet ring is particularly beautiful. From the Georgian (ca1820) era, this signet ring is made of 18kt yellow gold and has a carved carnelian center. The signet center, which is oval in shape, depicts a unique family crest and is deep orange in color. On each shoulder of the carnelian is an old Mine Cut diamond which is bezel set in sterling silver. The 2 diamonds have an approximate total weight of .10ct tw. The underside of the shank is stamped “B” and “750”, while the underside of the mounting has a stunning engraved design. This fabulous ring would make a beautiful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The carnelian seal measures a little less than 1/2" wide and slightly less than 3/4" tall. The ring has a small finger size of 4.5, but it could easily be resized.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold mounting or to the carnelian stone. Both diamonds are intact.
