Victorian Silver Gilt & Citrine Scottish Shield Pendant
Designed to reflect ancestral and Celtic motifs, Scottish and Scottish Victorian jewelry typically incorporated richly colored stones as adornments. This wonderful, large Scottish pendant is made of gilded silver and portrays a shield with a crownlike design that graces the top of the piece. Decorating the shield are 10 faceted citrine stones, which are prong set and display a rich, warm color. The center citrine is oval in shape and is surrounded by 4 yellow gold balls, creating an eye-catching centerpiece. Detailing the top of the crown design are two garnet cabochons and three natural seed pearls, which are all bezel set and graduate slightly. An artistic etched motif travels along the edges of the piece and adds a wonderful visual texture. The back of the piece is stamped at the bottom and at the top is a simple bail. This stunning pendant is an exquisite example of fine Scottish Victorian jewelry and would look wonderful worn on a gold chain. It has a royal look and would make a very special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, is 1 1/4" at its widest point and 3/8" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the silver gilt setting or bail, and all of the stones are intact. There is a small chip in one of the citrine stones on the left hand side, which is not noticeable when worn.
