Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. This gorgeous bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era is a fantastic example of the craftsmanship prevalent in the Newark area. This fabulous piece is made of vibrant 14kt yellow gold and is decorated in a lovely repousse motif. The design features a gorgeous floral design which carries around the entire surface. The bracelet is hinged and clasps on the side where there is a safety hook for added security. The tongue of the clasp has a triangular Newark makers hallmark. A spectacular piece, it would look stunning worn by itself or with other similar bracelets, and would rest comfortably on a small to average size wrist.
Measurements: The wrist opening of the bracelet measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/8" tall. The surface measures approximately 1/2" at the widest point and has a depth of a little less than 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
