A gorgeous locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This oval shaped locket is made of sterling silver and depicts a lovely enameled picture. The front adorns a beautiful enameled bird in gorgeous, almost iridescent hues of blue, green, yellow, red and orange. The bird is perched on a black enamel nest, which holds two eggs. Framing the bird and nest is a lovely frame of blue, yellow, red, and green flowers and leaves. The locket opens to reveal 2 places for your favorite photos, one of which is covered by glass. A small ring attached to the top connects to a sterling bail. This beautiful locket would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/8, is slightly more than 1 1/2" wide and is slightly more than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the enamel. There are some minor scratches to the sterling, which is not unusual for a piece from this time period and is not very noticeable when worn.
