A very unique and special pair of buttons from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unusual set is made of 15kt yellow gold and each has a carved coral disk face. The coral is oval in shape and has a rounded surface with flat backs, where the gold button backs are securely attached. Resting atop each coral disk is a single delicate fly, made of yellow gold and detailed with sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds. The flies have raised wings and black enameled detail, creating a wonderful and charming appearance! The buttons were most likely custom made for a special woman and worn either at the collar of her shirt or at her sleeve cuffs. They come in their original box as pictured. The underside of each button is stamped with a small maker's mark in the yellow gold. These artistic buttons have a wonderful Victorian look and would make a unique addition to any antique collection!
Measurements: Each button measures approximately 7/16" long, 5/16" wide and 5/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the buttons is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or coral and the diamonds are intact.
