Victorian 14kt Enamel & Diamond Wing & Tassel Pin/Pendant
A fabulous enamel winged pin/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 14kt yellow gold, this gorgeous piece takes shape in a pair of open wings, which display rich, red enamel on the front surface. Intricate detail depicting individual feathers shows through the enameling, giving the design wonderful depth. Each wing is adorned with a single sparkling diamond in a bezel setting and a row of 4 delicate seed pearls decorate the space where the two wings meet. Dangling freely below the wings is a fabulous yellow gold tassel. On the back of the piece is a bar pin with the original 'c' catch pin clasp, as well as a v-shaped bar where a chain could be looped through and worn as a pendant. Most likely, the pin was worn paired with a complimentary watch, which would have hung in place of the tassel. The tassels have since been added to create a more modern, wearable piece. This attractive pin/pendant has a very fashionable look that would make an lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The piece measures 1 3/4" wide, hangs approximately 2" long and is 3/8" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the diamonds or pearls, all of which are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition. There is some minor surface wear to the enamel, which is normal for a Victorian piece.
