This sterling silver book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era is absolutely fabulous! This wonderful chainmail inspired piece is comprised of braided rings that link together, forming a wide chain collar necklace. The front surface is topped with a row of round links that have a 6-point starburst cutout in the center, completing the look beautifully. The necklace could also be worn with the reverse side facing the front if desired, giving the piece additional versatility. At the center of the chain is a large spring clasp that opens and makes it easy to attach a complimentary pendant or locket. A fabulous necklace, it is comfortable to wear and would look wonderful worn alone or paired with a Victorian locket or pendant!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17.5" long, is 3/8" at the widest point and 3/16" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver links and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
