A fabulous sterling etched locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The wonderful piece is made of sterling silver and carries an ornate design on the front. The face of the oval shaped locket has a wonderful etched design with an ivy leaf frame and a textured pattern at the center. Resting at the center is a raised vertical section that has a smooth surface. This gives the piece a wonderful, 3-dimensional look. The back of the locket is a simple smooth silver and the inside of the locket opens to reveal 2 places for your favorite photographs. It hangs from a sterling fluted bail which is perfect for hanging from a long Victorian chain. It is a wonderful example of Victorian artistry and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, is 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick. The inside of the bail measures 3/8" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the silver. The locket opens easily and stays securely closed.
