Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.
This gorgeous bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era is a fantastic example of the Riker Brothers' talent. Known for their attention to detail, this 14kt yellow gold piece is a slip on style bracelet which is decorated in a lovely floral and scrolling etched design covering the entire outer surface. The inside of the bangle is marked "14K" and bears the Riker Brothers hallmark, the signature "R" with a sword through it. A spectacular piece, it would look stunning worn by itself or with other similar bracelets and would rest comfortably on a small to average size wrist. It would make a fabulous addition to any Riker Brothers' collection!
Measurements: The wrist opening of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall. The surface measures approximately 1/2" wide and has a depth of a little less than 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear to the interior of the piece, there is no serious damage to the gold.
