Victorian 14kt Yellow Gold Diamond Nail Bracelet
A fashionable gold nail bracelet from the Victorian (ca1908) era! The square head nail design has been replicated by Gucci since the 1960's and has its origins in the equestrian world, being modeled after the nails used to hold the horses shoe in place. This fantastic piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and depicts a square head nail that curls around your wrist, forming a striking gold bangle. The head of the nail holds a single old Mine Cut diamond set in a square, four prong setting. On the inside of the bracelet are the markings "PAT. JAN 28.08" and "F 14K". There is also an engraved inscription on the inside of the bracelet that reads "A.E.H. to E.L.W. Xmas 1923." The clasp is hidden within the band and can be found on the side of the hinged bracelet. A classic piece that translates perfectly into a modern day style, it could be worn alone or stacked with other bracelets!
Measurements: The opening, where a wrist would rest, measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall. The nail ranges in thickness from 1/8" at the thinnest point to slightly more than 3/8" at the head of the nail.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. The gold displays normal surface wear and two very minor dings, which are not noticeable when worn. The diamond is intact, and the clasp and hinge are secure and in good working condition.
