Victorian Sterling Gilt Bohemian Garnet Horseshoe Bracelet

SKU: 34955

Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.

A fabulous Bohemian garnet bangle from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely piece is made of gilded silver and is decorated with hand faceted garnets. The bracelet is comprised of a single row of prong set garnet stones lining the entire outer surface of the piece which overlaps in the front, ending in a an arrow-like tip with a garnet bead. At the very center is a horseshoe which is lined in graduating garnets with a garnet bead at the center. The bracelet is hinged and clasps on the side and has a safety chain for added security. All of the garnets are set in a closed back rose gold gilt setting and the garnets are in excellent condition, with a vibrant, luscious color. The bracelet look beautiful worn alone or with other bangles and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
