A wonderful pair of dog head cufflinks from the Victorian (ca1880) era. Each cufflink is hand carved out of ivory and depicts the head of a hunting dog. The dog has intricately carved features, with its ear draping at the side of its face, its muzzle lifted upwards and its gaze angled towards the sky. Around the base of the neck is a 14kt yellow gold cap that makes a striking collar. The back of each dog head is flat and sprouting from the back is the knob of the cufflink, also carved from ivory. These fabulous cufflinks could be worn by either a man or a woman and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each dog head measures slightly less than 1" long, nearly 3/4" wide, and has a depth of slightly less than 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the cufflinks is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the ivory dog heads or to the gold capped collars.
