Victorian Carved Tortoise Shell Hanging Urn Earrings
A delightful pair of carved tortoise shell earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Now a banned material, antique tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectible. These striking earrings are hand carved into the shape of delicate urns, which dangle below triangular pillar toppers. Surrounding the outside of each urn is a decorative Grecian style pattern in yellow gold, adding a wonderful accent to the already lovely design. The tortoise shell has a rich, deep brown color with light amber and caramel hues that are visible when held in the light. Each urn earring dangles from a simple gold earring wire and is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. These fantastic Victorian earrings look beautiful when worn and would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 1/4" long, are 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick at their deepest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the tortoise shell and the earring wires are intact and in good condition.
