French Paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700s, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones. A beautiful pair of horseshoe earrings from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! These delicate French paste earrings are made of 14kt yellow gold and are shaped like small, glittering horseshoes. Each has 8 sparkling paste stones, which catch the light beautifully and look wonderful against the vibrant yellow gold setting. The earrings have a closed back and hang from simple yellow earrings wires. Charming and feminine, these earrings look marvelous when worn. They would be perfect for any equestrian enthusiast, and would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 6/8" long, are 3/8" across at the widest point, and measure 1/8" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold settings or to the French paste stones which are intact.
