Fantastic gold earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each earring, which is fairly large in size, is made of soft 14kt yellow gold and is beautifully decorated with delicate Etruscan wirework and beadwork. The earrings, which have a 3-dimensional eye shape, hang from a round gold surmount which is attached to the wires. On either side of the puffy gold shape is a flat wishbone-like link that moves freely. Two gold spikes hang from each end of the "wishbone" along with a single spike that swings from the very bottom of the earrings. Very light and comfortable to wear, these marvelous earrings would be great worn day or night.
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, is 3/4" at the widest point and 3/8" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold, wirework/beadwork detail or to the earring wires. There are a few minor dents in the gold in the back of the earrings however this isn't noticeable when they're worn. The surface of the gold, surrounding the wirework design, has some natural patina which adds to the richness of the earrings.
