Gorgeous earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era. A pair of pave (French for pavement) set Persian turquoise and pearl hanging earrings. These wonderful earrings have an extremely unusual look and portray a wonderful floral-esque design. Each earring hangs from a 14kt gold wire and begins with what looks like an upside down sterling silver tulip flower that is covered in pave set turquoise stones. Attached to the bottom of the upside down tulip is a single natural pearl. The pearl attaches to an open, 5 petal sterling flower which is also covered in pave set turquoise. A small 14kt gold link with 5 seed pearls rests between the pearl and the 5 petal flower. Dangling from the inside of the open flower is another upside down sterling tulip, again pave set with turquoise, and a large, natural pearl. The design is very unusual and wonderful and has a 3-dimensional look. The colors of the turquoise and pearls compliment each other beautifully and have a rich, Victorian look. A simply lovely pair of earrings, perfect for the Victorian lover!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 7/8" long. The open, 5 petal flower measures 3/4" wide and the larger pearls each measure approximately 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. All of the turquoise stones and pearls are intact and there is no apparent damage to the gold, silver or wires.
