Victorian 18kt Gold Drippy French Paste Earrings

SKU: 31567

French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

Stunning earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These exquisite French paste hanging earrings are handset within a lovely 18kt yellow gold setting and dripping with 12 stones in each. The earrings begin with a single, large Mine Cut stone that attaches to the gold earring wire. Dangling from the stone is another paste stone which connects to a 3-stone gold link. Three bars dangle from the gold link which are detailed with more stones. All of the stones are prong set in a fancy and ornate gold setting which adds to the richness of the earrings. The hand cut, faceted French paste stones are very white and sparkly and look just like the real thing! They would be absolutely perfect for a special occasion and make a stunning statement!

Measurements: The earrings hang a little longer than 2" long, are 5/8" wide and have a depth of a little less than 1/4".

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting or wires and all of the stones are bright and clear.
