Absolutely beautiful lava cameo earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These stunning earrings are particularly large in size and comprised of lovely teardrop shaped lava cameos within a 14kt yellow setting. The lava has a wonderful blueish grey hue and is intricately hand carved to depict a Grecian or Roman woman draped in flowing fabric. One woman holds a sprig of leaves in her hand and the other is carrying a small bowl and a delicate flower is carved at the top of each teardrop. Small decorative accents decorate the vibrant yellow gold bezel, which is open in the back. The earrings hang from clasped gold earring wires which are attached to a gold ball surmount. The neutral grey lava looks simply magnificent against the yellow gold setting and the earrings look striking on. These gorgeous earrings would make a very special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 3/4" long, are 5/8" at the widest point and have a depth of 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved lava or to the gold setting and the wires are intact.
