Victorian Mixed Metals Carved Ivory & Diamond Bird Earrings
Fantastic carved ivory bird earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These unique and artistic earrings are made of rosy 14kt yellow gold and and sterling silver which is formed into a branch shape that curves around into an open loop. The branch has several small leaves, each of which is topped with an old Rose Cut diamond. Placed in the center of each gold branch is an intricately hand carved ivory bird. The bird is depicted as if in flight, with open wings that have marvelous feathered detail. The bird's head is turned towards its tail feathers and its beak is slightly open. The top of each ivory bird has a lovely pale peachy color that contrasts beautifully with the white color on the rest of the body. At the top of each earring is a gold earring wire that is attached to a small ivory bead. The earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear, and would make a wonderful addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 3/4" long, is 5/8" at the widest point, and is slightly more than 1/4" at the deepest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no chips in the ivory and no damage to the gold or silver setting. All of the diamonds are intact.
