Victorian Large Chinese Silver Gilt Vinaigrette Earrings
A wonderful and very unusual pair of Chinese vinaigrette earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These fabulous earrings are made of gilded silver and have a lovely design that reflects their Victorian origin. Each earring hangs from an ornate silver gilt chain which attaches to a simple earring wire. Each sphere-shaped vinaigrette has exquisite wirework detailing the entire surface with flowers, leaves and bunches of grapes, separated by accenting beadwork. Both spheres easily unscrew, allowing one to put a desired scent inside. The earrings have a very artistic look and look fantastic on. They would make a unique addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2" long and each sphere measures about 1 1/8" wide and long.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings are excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver gilt earrings and the wires and stones are all intact. The vinaigrette's twist open with out any problem and stay securely closed.
