An absolutely fabulous pair of banded agate earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each earring is made of sterling silver and features 5 bezel set banded agate stones. The largest is in the middle, forming the center of the earring, and three additional stones dangle below in a tiered row. At the top of each earring is a single banded agate stone which attaches to a simple sterling earring wire. The banded agate is polished smooth and has a dark, brownish black color with a white band running down the middle or encircling the outside of the stone. When worn, the earrings have wonderful movement and look simply beautiful! Classically elegant, they would make a lovely addition to any collection.
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 1/2" long, are 7/8" across at their widest point and have a thickness of 3/16".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver or to any of the banded agate stones, all of which are intact.
