Victorian Large 15kt Gold & Diamond Locket
A fabulous gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece, which is particularly large in size, is made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin) and has a decorative raised design that rests on the front face. The design is comprised of a row of rectangles in the center, each adorned with a sparkling old Mine Cut diamond in the center. The diamonds rest within an etched starburst setting and look fabulous against the yellow gold. At either side of center is an ornate design with an engraved geometric column and a twisted rope border, completing the overall look perfectly. The locket is hinged at the side and opens to reveal space to store two special photographs behind glass. At the top of the piece is a large, fluted gold bail allowing the locket to hang from a chain. A marvelous Victorian piece, it has a wonderful, bold look and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, is 1 1/2" wide and 5/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the diamonds are intact. The locket opens easily and fastens shut securely and the bail is in good working condition.
