In French, fleur-de-lys means "lily flower". Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lys have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. It has consistently been used as a royal emblem, though different cultures have interpreted its meaning in various ways.

A gorgeous gold locket from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! This fabulous round locket is made of 14kt rosy yellow gold and has a simple yet beautiful design. On the face of the locket is a wonderfully detailed and 3-dimensional fleur-de-lys crafted in yellow gold. The back of the locket is monogramed with flowing initials that appear to read "VLL". The locket opens to reveal space inside for two of your favorite photographs. A simple gold bail makes it perfect for wearing with your favorite chain. Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 5/8" long, is 1 1/4" wide and has a depth of slightly more than 1/4" at the thickest point. 

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold.
