A fabulous garnet pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fabulous piece is made of 15kt yellow gold and is detailed with a large garnet stone and fine Etruscan wirework. At the center of the pendant is a round cabochon garnet which has a hand carved scalloped surface. Set in the center is a gold starburst that is accented with 6 old Rose Cut diamonds. The garnet, which is foil backed, is bezel set and surrounded by a fine rope wire border. Resting in the corners of the wide gold frame are 4 etched scrolls which complete the stunning design perfectly. The pendant hangs from a simple gold bail and on the back is a glass covered locket face. This wonderful piece would make a great addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1 1/4" long, is 1" at the widest point and has a depth of 3/8". The garnet measures a little more than 1/2" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or to the garnet stone and all of the diamonds are intact. The locket face is secure and in good working condition.
