An absolutely gorgeous gold and enamel locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is made of 15kt yellow gold and has a vividly stunning portrait displayed on its face. The portrait is painted, with a layer of clear enamel placed on top of it. The portrait is of a woman adorned with a feathered headdress, as well as a gold earring and necklace. The crown of the headdress is gold and holds three old Rose Cut diamonds. The gold earring holds a sparkling rose-cut diamond as well. The portrait is painted with vivid hues of red, yellow, green, blue, and purple and the painting is surrounded by a textured etched design, which borders the entire oval shaped piece. Black enamel tracery creates a lovely scrolled design within the border and the back of the locket is smooth gold with an etched scroll design in its center. A similar etched design can be found on the large complimentary bail. The locket opens to reveal two places for a photograph, each of which is covered in glass. The loop from which the bail hangs is stamped with what appears to be initials, please see images. It's a beautiful and unusual Victorian piece, which would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2" long, is slightly more than 1 1/8" wide and slightly more than 1/4" thick. The inside of the bail measures 1/2" long and slightly more than 1/4" wide.
