A fabulous locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era. This large 15kt yellow gold locket is simply stunning and unusual. The piece, which has a shield-like shape, is decorated with a gorgeous Etruscan wirework and beadwork design. It is richly detailed and has a three-dimensional look. In the middle of its raised center, sits a single Rose Cut bezel set diamond weighing approximately 1/8ctw. A tear drop shaped bail rests at the top of the piece and is large in size to fit on a wide Victorian chain. The back of the locket opens to reveal glass covered spot for hair or a photograph. This outstanding piece would look stunning worn on a heavy Victorian watch chain.
Measurements: The locket measures approximately 1 3/4" at the tallest point, 1 1/8" at the widest point and 1/2" thick. The bail measures 1/2" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the piece and the locket on the back closes easily and securely. There are a few very minor dings in the gold on the back of the locket, which is not unusual for a Victorian locket.
