Victorian 9kt Gold Horseshoe Locket
A fabulous horseshoe locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 9kt gold, the locket is medium sized and has an attractive three dimensional horseshoe design on the front surface. Along the edges of the horseshoe are 7 raised nails (always 7 for good luck!) and at the top is a raised heart shape which gives a wonderful look to the piece. The back of the locket has a smooth, gold surface and at the top is a simple gold bail, allowing it to be worn on a chain. The back of the piece is hinged and opens to reveal space to store one of your favorite photographs behind glass. This beautiful locket would be perfect for the equestrian enthusiast, and would make a lovely addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 1 1/4" long, is 7/8" wide and is slightly more than 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold locket. The bail is intact and the piece opens easily and stays securely closed.
