An absolutely beautiful heart shaped locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful locket is rather large in size and is made of sterling silver. Both surfaces of the heart are smooth, and the front of the piece has been hand engraved with the initials "ECL". The locket opens to reveal the original black and white photographs and the marking "STERLING 325". At the top of the heart is large bail which allows the locket to be hung and worn easily from a chain. It appears that the locket may have been plated in gold at one point which is why the inside has a gold tone wash. It's a simply wonderful piece that would make a wonderful keepsake addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 2 1/2" long, measures 2" wide and is 3/8" thick at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver and the locket opens easily and closes securely.
