An absolutely fantastic English amethyst necklace from the late Victorian (ca1900) era! This fabulous piece is comprised of 22 large sized graduating amethyst links that are set in 9kt yellow gold. The stones are oval shaped and faceted along the edges and rest comfortably along the neckline. They are prong set and rest in the center of an open bezel setting. The links attach to each other by a single ring and the piece clasps in the back, hidden within one of the amethyst links. The center link has a curved wire hook bail on the underside of the link which is perfect for attaching a complimentary pendant or locket from the piece and the clasp is stamped "9ct". The stones are handset with beautiful facets that catch the light wonderfully when worn. It's a simply magnificent piece and would make any collection complete!
Measurements: The length of the faceted amethyst necklace is approximately 15" long. The amethyst links range in size from 3/4" wide and 5/8" tall being the largest to 1/2" wide and 3/8" tall being the smallest.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the amethyst stones or to the gold setting. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
