Victorian 14kt Mixed Metals Shakudo Urn Bead Necklace

SKU: 33056

Shakudo is the use of mixed metal alloys and was originally used in Japanese armor and swords. Artisans would sometimes remove the Shakudo plaques from the armor and incorporate it into jewelry or art. It has become very collectible and quite unusual.

This unusual chain is a wonderful example of the Shakudo art and is from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The chain is comprised of ornate, textured urn links made of 14kt yellow and rose gold that overlap each other, creating a stunning design. Small yellow gold rings alternate with the urn links and at the center of the chain is a bar clasp, engraved with a lovely floral motif. It's a simply marvelous necklace that would be a perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures approximately 16" long. Each urn link measures 1/4" long and slightly more than 1/8” wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold links or to the clasp, which fastens securely and is in good working condition.
