A wonderful onyx link necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fantastic piece is comprised of 14 hand carved onyx links which have a striking elongated octagonal shape. The links have faceted faces and a small 15kt rosy yellow gold bead set at the center on either side. The links alternate with rich onyx and small gold beads and all of the links are strung on fine gold box chain. The necklace fastens easily at a large 15kt gold clasp which would also act as a place to attach a strong pendant or locket. The facets in the links catch the light, making the necklace beautiful in motion. It's a bold necklace which makes a true statement and would be a perfect worn alone or with a complimentary pendant or locket!
Measurements: Each faceted onyx link is approximately 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1/2" in depth and the onyx beads have a diameter of 6.75mm. The overall length of the necklace is 18".
Condition: The overall condition of this necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or to the onyx links and beads. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
