A fabulous gold book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful necklace is made of 15kt gold (which indicates that it is of English origin) and is comprised of wonderfully detailed, alternating hollow links. The larger links have a barrel shape and an exquisite Etruscan wirework design on the front surface. The smaller links are formed by several connecting gold loops that hold a flower-like rose gold plaque. The book chain fastens together with a large rose gold spring ring clasp, making it easy to hang a complimentary locket or pendant if desired. The piece is elegantly beautiful and would look stunning worn by itself or paired with a locket or pendant. It's a very special necklace that would make a marvelous addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 19 1/4" long and is slightly more than 1/4" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold links or to the Etruscan wirework design and the clasp is in good working condition.
